YIHR BiH: Terrorist attack causes long term consequences for citizens of BiH
28. 6. 2010. Youth Initiative for Human Rights condemns terrorism and attack on the Police Station in Bugojno, which resulted in killing of a policeman Tarik Ljubuškić, and injuring of several other persons. We believe that radical act like this aimed to terrorize citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina , should be sharply condemned, primarily by the state and religious communities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also by the society as a whole. We are seeking for a strong and unanimous standing in terms of active response to individuals and groups who misuse freedom of worship, opinion and expression and cross the boundaries by striving to forcibly impose their own views and beliefs to the entire community.
We are using this opportunity to appeal for a minimum of tolerance for any act that obstructs the constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and represents a threat to sustainability of the principle of secular state. We invite the government to react, and we seek a specific response to the threat. Lacking adequate reaction can initiate and spread a wave of violence, which can have a long term consequences for citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, not only in terms of spreading of fear and insecurity , but also in terms of freedom of movement in a context world-wide movements.
We express our condolences to the family of the killed policeman, and request from the institutions to carry out an investigation that will not finish with the perpetrators of this act, but will investigate connections between the radical individuals and groups, in order to resolve the issue of terrorism threat in Bosnia and Herzegovina for good.
