YIHR BiH: the Initiative in Bijeljina
15. 7. 2010. Within the project “Citizen, that’s me” sponsored by Civil Rights Defenders, the activists of the Youth Initiative for Human Rights organised street event and human rights workshop for Bijeljina youth, on July 15th, 2010.Entire programme was organised in cooperation with the Youth Forum from Bijeljina and Youth Branch of the Helsinki Council of Republika Srpska. The street event was organised at the main square in Bijeljina. This was an opportunity to present the YIHR objectives to all interested in. The street event was followed by implementation of the Human Rights Workshop for young people from the local community.
Within the workshop organised and realised by Ruba Velagić, Adis Hukanović and Alisa Hadžić, ten young people participated in discussion and presented some issues related to discrimination and protection of human rights in area of Bijeljina.
The programme was coordinated by Dinko Sijerčić and Nedim Jahić, supported by technical assistance of Adi Omerbegović. The activities were documented by Emin Hajrić, a student of Direction Studies in the movie 'Citizen’s courage: Bijeljina and Brčko' within the project “Citizen, that’s me”, and as a part of a short documentary series on youth activism and their visions of BiH society. Additional coordination efforts were invested by Stefan Jozić and Dejan Čabrilo from Bijeljina, who together with other participants were excellent hosts and teammates.
